Week start

Draws a break where each new week begins, on both Today and Upcoming, so a run of fast days can be read against a working week.

Days on the Today view

How many day cards to show, counting today as the first.

Precept Recitation days

Which days carry the Precept Recitation flag (布薩, bùsà), in every view — the days the assembly gathers to recite the precepts. Two a month, at the new moon and the full — lunar 1 and 15 — or on whichever days your assembly keeps; where it gathers at weekends instead, the nearest Saturday or Sunday to each moon.

The last day is the 29th or the 30th as the month falls. Leave either blank for a single day a month; a month of 29 days has no day 30.

Every fourteenth day either side of this one, so the fortnight never skips. It keeps its own rhythm rather than the moon's, and drifts from the moon over the years.

Leap months

A leap month repeats a month of the year. Whether the repeat carries the long fast with it is a reading rather than a rule, and the DRBA 2023 calendar points the other way — its leap 2nd month got no repeat of the monthly memorial and no repeat of Guan Yin's birthday — so it is off here until it can be confirmed at CTTB.

Install

Bodhi Precepts can sit on a home screen or in a dock like any other app and open without the browser around it. Once it is installed the calendar is on the device, so it opens with no connection at all.

Where this is kept

These settings, the theme picked from the masthead, and the filters chosen on Upcoming are saved in this browser only, under the key bodhi.settings. Nothing is sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data resets them.
